If taken care of a knife can be used for a lifetime and provide a lot of fun in the kitchen. Here I collected some tips how you can take care of your knife.

what to cut on: Use wooden or plastic cutting boards. Harder materials will make the cutting edge become dull.

what to cut with: the thin cutting edges these knives are perfect for cutting vegetables andanything that you could chew yourselve. Do not cut bones or froozen food and do not twist or apply a lot of pressure on the blade to avoid chipouts.

cleaning: Rinse the blade off with water after use and dry off immediately to prevent rust. Use Use detergent only if really needed. It will remove oil which protects from rust. Never put it in the dishwasher, the cutting edge and the handle would get damaged.

rust protection: The steel used for these knives is not stainless. Therfore they need to be protected from rust. To do so you can use any kind of plant based oil and apply it with a piece of kitchen paper or textile. You can do that as often as you like but I recommend at least once in a month. In case you forgot to try the knife and it started to rust use the hard side of a kitchen sponge, or if that does not work fine steel wool to remove the rust. Over time a patina will form on the blade, which also protects from rust.

handle: The handle can be oiled from time to time with the same oil used for the blade.

It is not glued to the blade, so it can be disassmbled. If it starts to wiggle or come loose a bit it's nothing to be concerned about. Just tap the handle with the blade facing upwards gently on a table. If you dont want to deal with that, use super glue or epoxy to glue it in.

storing: I store my knife on a piece of cloth or towel in the kitchen. You can also use a knive block or a box. Just avoid mixing it with other metal objects in a drawer.

Also avoid magnetic knife racks, they will magnetize the blade and make sharpening harder.

sharpening: only use water sharpening stones. A combination stone with a soft bond and a 1000 and 6000 grit is perfect (1). Here you can find a good video tutorial (2).
